Doula Support Collective 

The Reading Midwife Center has access to a team of trained doulas through the Doula Support Collective, providing hands-on birth support for families delivering at the birth center. Information about the program is listed below.

*The Doula Support Collective is not owned or operated by the Reading Midwife Center, nor does the Reading Midwife Center recommend this program over hiring an individual doula. The Collective is physically hosted at the center to provide clients access to one of many options for birth support.

What's Included In the Program?

Clients can choose to sign up with the Doula Support Collective and have access to the doulas on call.

What's Included
• Birth center labor support can be called in for those signed up for the program beginning at 37 weeks
• Continuous labor support after admission
• Emotional and physical support/advocacy
• One postpartum phone call within the first month


Cost total for birth center birth: $650
• $250 nonrefundable retainer fee
• $400 birth fee* 
- *Refunded if you choose not to call a doula. Clients can also opt to have doula come with to local hospitals in the case of transfer or induction for a fee.

What Is a Doula?
-A doula is a trained support professional (not a medical provider) who offers continuous
physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and after childbirth.
-Does not perform medical tasks 
Primary Role: comfort, physical assistance, education, encouragement.

What Is a Midwife?
-A midwife is a licensed healthcare professional trained and certified to provide medical
care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
 

Doula Circle Events

Doula Circle Events are available to all Reading Midwife Center clients at no cost. 

You are welcome to attend any of the events/classes at any time. Please RSVP to Jodie at YourBirthHaven@gmail.com  if you plan to attend. 

Kids and partners welcome! Events are held some Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm at the Reading Midwife Center.
